Councilman Doug Conner called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m. and presided.
Committee members introduced themselves and provided information on their background as it relates to career and technical education.
Discussion
Commission members discussed the direction and goals of the CTE Commission and agreed to utilize sub-committees.
Commission member Jacek Ghosh was tasked with facilitating a conference call between the Commission and Bill Strickland, CEO of Manchester-Bidwell, to discuss the possibilities of utilizing his services in
Richmond.
Based in
Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Manchester-Bidwell is a corporation designed to train individuals in various technical and educational fields in order to help them become productive members of society.
The conference call is to take place at the October CTE Commission meeting.
Mr. Conner regretfully informed the Commission of the passing of Commission member Demetrius Carter. A resolution from City Council in remembrance of Mr. Carter will be forthcoming.
